I am loving the new build. True I am getting steamrolled by more experienced players (to some, they are called "no-lifers") but the core mechanics of the game have been polished to perfection. I no longer have micro-stuttering. The fix to allow players who have higher latency than most (raises hand) has been integrated extremely well and I no longer have the problem of "I-got-killed-because-a-micro-stutter-happened-and-missed-out-on-getting-one-last-hit-on-the-enemy-before-he-died" type of gameplay. Now it's all about my gungame.
Haven't used a dropship this build but to hear that you no longer flip a bazillion times when getting hit by swarms makes me happy. Now I have something to look forward to and to test next time I get on.
ISK payouts have been raised! Now I am much more willing to pull out some of my advanced fits and stand against tanks (since I'm speccing into Forge Guns).
Nice to see that LogiBros have rewards back in the game. It's so much nicer to see more logistics on the battlefield going around resupplying, repairing and reviving people. It makes the game so much more unpredictable.
Redlines have been redrawn and many maps have been redesigned. Of course, by redesign I mean that objectives, CRUs, supply depots, and turrets are in different places now. With some of the battles becoming more close quarters, Skirmish finally feels fun and frantic for now. It feels much harder to redline the enemy. But only time will tell until everyone gets used to the new layouts.
We have a new map! I have found some glitches with it, with moving around and getting caught on some surfaces, but I'm glad to see some new territories!
New supply depots look ugly. I want the old ones back. Though I may be the only one.... >.> (I will admit, they are nicer because they are taller and the enemy can't shoot through the small cracks to kill you now.)
The new menu system when spawning is much improved over the last one. Now, when you spawn as a certain fit, the next time you spawn, that fit is selected. Finally! No more having to continuously scroll down to a fit that's at the bottom of the list.
Grenade throwing is still something I'm getting used to. I feel like I mastered the old one and now I'm trying to adapt to the new throwing style. Still something I'm learning so I can't give a good critique on it just yet.
Overall, I'd say this is a great step forward in the right direction. Core mechanics were the things I was the most worried about and it's nice to see that the lag and latency issues have been fixed and gameplay now feels as smooth as butter. Great job CCP. Keep up the good work. |
